Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Waterfront
Mermaid Quay is a 140,000 sq ft leisure and retail scheme located in the heart of Cardiff Bay. It was developed by Sovereign Land and funded by Schroder Exempt Property Unit Trust. Opened in 1999, Mermaid Quay is now well established as the city’s leading leisure destination, with a wide range of waterfront cafés, restaurants and bars. The scheme boasts a host of major multiples and high quality independent A3 operators, which are supplemented by an eclectic mix of retail and service outlets appealing to visitors and the growing numbers of local residents and daytime office population.
Mermaid Quay is surrounded by an array of iconic buildings and international attractions including the Wales Millennium Centre, The Welsh Assembly’s Senedd and the historic Pierhead building as well as new residential and office developments. Sovereign Land now asset manages Mermaid Quay on behalf of SEPUT and is actively involved in tenant mix enhancement and other pro-active initiatives to protect and improve asset value, as well as being responsible for day-to-day centre management.
