Witney
Sovereign Land has been involved in two development opportunities in the Oxfordshire town of Witney.
Sovereign Land, together with Bovis and Pye & Persimmon, formed Oxfordshire Land in 1997. Since then, the company has been pursuing a long term strategy, promoting the development of approximately 170 acres of land on the outskirts of the town. In 2003, it was successful in securing District Council designation of the site for residential and mixed-use to fulfill Witney’s Structure Plan requirements which include 800/1,200 new homes. A master plan has been produced for the development and community consultation began in July 2010.
Sovereign Land also established a Limited Partnership with a local landowner to develop 350,000 sq ft of industrial space at the Curbridge Business Park in Downs Road. The first phase of the scheme (150,000 sq ft) is occupied by Stewart Milne’s timber systems division. A further phase of the scheme was sold to Chris Hayter, a major logistics company, for its own occupation in 2005.
